We are having a baby!

I went to the doctor this morning for my weekly exam and my blood pressure is still up. So the doctor said, "Let's get this over with and have a baby!" How very exciting and scary at the same time. I sit here in silence and think this is the last time I will sit on this couch without a baby next to me. How strange! I am being induced on December 31, 2008 at 7am! Maybe Mr. Lowe will get his tax break after all. Or this little stinker will put me through a full day of labor and we will have a New Years Day baby. It is all so crazy! Well, next time I talk to you all. Chris and I will be Mommy and Daddy. We can't wait for this baby and we can't wait to share him with our friends and family. We hope you have a great New Years!

Still Waiting..

Well we made it through Christmas! I did not want a Christmas baby, so now he can feel free to make his arrival anytime. Aunt Dana and I went to the doctor on Christmas Eve. Everything looked great and my blood pressure returned to normal! Yes!!! We went last minute Christmas shopping which was fun!

We spent Christmas Eve at Mr. and Mrs. Chrones house. On Christmas day, Chris and I went to the Lowe's house for breakfast and then to the Mason's for dinner. It was all so yummy! I am excited to have a little one with us next year.

Chris and I returned to the hospital on Friday for another Non-Stress test and more blood work. Everything was perfectly normal, so hopefully I won't be back there until the big day. The same nurse took care of me and she said that the baby was probably playing with his cord the other day when his heart rate dropped rapidly. That would make sense that he is getting into mischief already.

I go back to the OB on Tuesday for what I hope will be my last Non-Stress test. Then we just wait for our little one to enter the world. Both Chris and I are hoping for some kind of New Years baby, either 31st or 1st. The 31st would be better for the tax break, but the 1st could mean that he is first baby of the New Year! How exciting is that?!

Life has been pretty crazy!

Here is a short short about some things that been going on in the last few weeks of Aja's pregnancy. It has been pretty exciting to say the least.

Tuesday 12/16/08, I went for my weekly visit to the doctor. When they took my blood pressure I was pretty high. He finished out the exam and to my surprise I was already starting to dilate. Then he asked me about my plans for the evening. He informed me that I need to go to L&D for testing and monitoring due to the high blood pressure. Of course, Daddy (Chris) is on a business trip to Illinois, so my Mom went with me. I got sent home after a few hours with very normal test results. I was put on partial bed rest (work and bed) until Friday.

Thursday 12/18/08 I began to show other signs of early labor but nothing too exciting.

Friday 12/19/08 I went back to the doctor to check on my blood pressure. I guess the partial bed rest didn't work because my blood pressure was still pretty high. They monitored me for about an hour. At first, the nurse struggled to find the heartbeat which gave me a huge anxiety attack. That wasn't good for the blood pressure! They found it and I just hung out for a while. The doctor told me that I was finished with work and that I needed to go back to L&D on Monday, unless something happened before then. I went down to say goodbye to my class and tied up loose end at work for my replacement. The doctor told me to continue partial bed rest until Monday. So here I sit. Blah! I hope all will be well on Monday. The doctor did tell me to feel free to go into labor anytime now. Woo hoo! So we will wait until Daddy comes home tonight. Fingers crossed he can make it out of ice covered Illinois.

Monday 12/22/08 Well ... we went on a big adventure Monday, December 22nd. I had to go to the hospital for a Non-Stress test and more blood work to monitor my blood pressure issues. All was going really well...they put me on the monitors for baby, took my blood, got the blood pressure cuff all set up and we were just hanging out waiting for all the results to return. Then the nurse realized that I need to give a urine sample, so I get out of bed and take care of that.

Then the adventure began..... I laid back down on the stretcher to get the baby monitor hooked up. Well they struggled to find the little one's heart beat. (I wasn't too nervous because the baby has done the same thing previously at the doctor's office. Little stinker!) They finally found it but it was only reading about 60 BPM and normally he runs between 130-140 BPM.
Next thing I know bars are going up on the stretcher, nurses are surrounding me, oxygen mask on my face, stretcher is being run down the hallway, nurses are yelling, "Emergency move out of the way," and here we go down to Labor and Delivery. We arrive in labor and delivery and things are crazy..IVs come in, about 7 nurses, monitors are being strapped to me, clothes are being torn off, a nurse begins an examination before I can even lay down on the table, someone is saying they everything ready for a C-Section, people are yelling "Call the doctor!". OMG! All I could think was where is my husband????!!!! This baby can't come without him.

At the same moment the baby monitor is hooked back up and his heart rate is totally normal. Things calm down pretty quickly after that. I continued to be monitored for a while and wait for doctor's orders. So no one really knows what happened, but we eventually got released late in the afternoon. In my opinion, the nurse never really gave it enough time to find the heart beat in the first place, but I am not a doctor. They did react really quick though which is a good thing, especially if it truly was an emergency.

So here we sit and wait. Again! The doctor and nurses are confident that baby boy Lowe is not going to wait until his due date. He really got the attention of everyone in the hospital and his entire family. I hope this is not a sign of things to come! It is not good to give your Mom a heart attack before you are born.

We go back to the doctor on Christmas Eve. Aunt Dana is going with us just in case the baby decides to pull any new tricks.

Why did we start a blog?

We have so many friends and family that love us around the world, so we thought we would like to share our story. Aja kept a website for baby boy Lowe throughout her pregnancy and thought it would be fun to try the whole blogging thing. I will do my best to keep up with our blog as baby boy Lowe makes his way into the world.
