First Foods

Parker ate his first foods the weekend before his 6 month birthday. We decided to do it then, so Daddy could be home to enjoy the experience with us. Parker had avacado as his first food. Of course, Mommy and Daddy spent a lot of time reading and thinking over what Parker's first food would be. He then tried sweet potatoes about 4 days later, and recently he tried bananas. He seemed to like the avacado and sweet potatoes, but he wasn't real sure of the banana. We will keep trying though. I think squash is next on the list.

Dr Ferber are you out there?

We have offically started "sleep training" using Dr. Ferber's book. Last night was really the first offical night. We have been using modified Ferber since last Friday, but I was weaning him off his middle of the night feedings by taking them down by an ounce each night until he has none. Last night, he has no feedings! We used the Day 2 of Ferber (since we have been using day 1 for a few days) which is 5, 10, 12 minute intervals. He went down drowsy but awake and didn't even cry! However, he did wake up about 1:30am and I had to use the 5, 10, but he fell asleep in the middle of the 12 minute wait. He woke again around 5am and I gave him the paci and he went back to sleep until about 6:45am. So tonight is Day 3 and we will see how it goes. I really hope this works because Mommy and Daddy have been without sleep for about 6 months too long!

Mommy's Big Boy

Today was Parker's six month appointment with the Pedi. He weighed in at a whopping 16lbs. 4oz. which is the 50th percentile as far as 6 month old babies go. He was 27 inches!! This is truly amazing! When he first was measured at 2 months he was in the 25%, at 4 months he was 50%, and now at 6 months he is in the 75%! Maybe he will be a tall lean boy! He did really well with his shots. He didn't even cry with the first one. He did cry for about 30 seconds with the second shot. He has been kind of tired, but we have been busy running errands all day so he really hasn't had a chance to take a good nap. Maybe he will sleep tonight??
